UPOU student pitfall: loosing the will to study

The greatest battle UPOU student can face is loosing motivation. So few days after the registration and enrollment, you promised to do the best this semester. There's a new fire that fuels your inner hunger to go excel on courses and become University of the Philippines name bearer. Yeah we all got that feeling -a halo effect. But this superficial motivation must endure that fact about realities of life. During your most stable days, when everything is smooth sailing and you are so fired up to finish all module within systematic time frame, and then suddenly problem comes. And these problems have extreme weapon to derail your inner student to excel. Yes, it will be a common experience for UPOU Student.

Unlike normal schooling, we can't hide from Television or Leisures like P.S. 3s and the like while studying at home. So after encountering problems, our first option is to go stress relieving by actually doing fun things. But it will consume our study and the most precious interest will be diverted to something else. We, UPOU Students, must realize the power of "being interested". For it is the driving force that pushes us to go out of bed, drink coffee, and begin self study again. However, family, work, personal problems can come at once to take these motivations and interest away.

So here are few tips to debrief after stress.

1. Go free write

For 15 minutes, write all bottled up emotions. Just let it out. Don't complicate your tone or grammar or syntax. The most important factor is you willfully drop off all heaviness that affects your morale to study. We have to consider that good mood will always be the best cognitive state to absorb, retain, and reuse informations. So having a bad mood will not yield any expected results. So deal with it through written communication to diffuse the load and be true to yourself for the benefit of your course.

2. Set time bound goals

Only by realizing that FMAs deserved to be revised before passing will you become inspired to right the draft ahead of time then chisel out the assignment. Dear fellow UPOU Student, no matter where we've gone through before the deadline, only the quality of FMAs on submission bin will be assessed by the teacher. Yes, we've gone through depressive problems lately, but this doesn't excuse us from the reality that we should have been responsible student by professionally acting as grown up.

Most of our problems deal with behavioral change. And it will only be cured by responding right. If we need to learn greater time management skill, go. If we need to tame down our competetive spirit so other's will not stumble over us, go.

Being derailed isn't a failure. However, wasting our most precious study time and betraying our financiers by not passing our subject isn't acceptable.

The good thing about being UPOU student is the reality of a genuine learner inside. You have gone this far to lose the fight just yet. But week isn't over yet. You can still get back on track, find motivation to other sources and regain your interest again. So fellow UPOU student, rekindle the fire again and raise the banner of excellence.
